Leo H. Mansheffer

Leo Harold Mansheffer
September 10, 1924 – January 21, 1945

Leo Harold Mansheffer was born on September 10, 1924, in Esperance, Schoharie County, New York. He graduated from South Kortright Central School in 1943 and lived in Stamford and Hobart. Although he never lived in Delhi, his parents moved there in 1946.

Leo served in the United States Army as a Sergeant with the 17th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, Mechanized. He fought bravely during World War II and was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium on January 21, 1945.

In 1948, Leo’s body was returned to the United States. He is remembered for his courage and sacrifice.
