Children: James, Sarah, Saba, Theophilus, Priscilla, John, Hugh, Elizabeth, Jesse, Nancy, and William

James began his seafaring life as a cabin boy on an American privateer near the end of the Revolutionary War and continued working at sea for eleven more years after the war ended. Following the death of his first wife, he moved to Stamford and became a farmer. By 1855, he was living in Delhi with a grandson.
